My new counselling space...
When lockdown hit, I could no longer work with clients face to face - overnight. Although I wanted to continue supporting my clients, I took the decision not to deliver online sessions in a house full of people and distractions, and with no guarantee of privacy. Instead I limited myself to phone work. Although this has worked far better than I ever expected, I knew I needed to adapt and be more flexible in my approach to working with clients. After all, this could all happen again, and I was also in a situation where I was paying rent for a counselling room I was barely using.
So, what was the outcome? I decided to build a lovely new space in my garden. I’d always wondered about a log cabin style office and room - and now it’s a living reality. It’s been a long (but fulfilling!) build and process, but it’s now done and dusted after many hours work. I couldn’t have done it without the input of others - mainly Mr Holbrook!
I’m so happy with the result, and when I’m sat in there (Iike right now writing this post!) I feel calm and chilled. It’s like a small peaceful sanctuary where I can meet people face to face, talk to clients on the phone, or from which I can also do online sessions - against a consistent and familiar backdrop.
I’m so looking forward to welcoming my first clients into this new space next week - in person and online!
