The way that I work is rooted in a belief that creating a warm, trusting environment by building rapport and building a professional relationships, enables people to open up - whether that be in a counselling session, a coaching conversation or a meeting in the workplace. I like to walk alongside people and organisations in their growth and journey.
I have experienced, first-hand, how the stresses of life can build-up and impact. I know what it’s like to reach out for help, and when I did that, things changed for me, and after years of working in business, in 2014 I decided to train as a counsellor. Something had shifted and although it was a big decision, it was the right one for me and I have not looked back. I enjoy supporting people on their own journey of self-awareness and insight. This is a big motivation for me.
I work in a person-centred way, both when I am counselling and coaching people. I also draw on different modalities and tools to meet the needs of my clients - such as creative work, CBT and mindfulness. As a coach, I’m flexible in my approach to working with people and in the workplace.
I set up my own counselling business in 2018 and, since then, have gained varied experience of working with adults and young people over the age of 16 years. Aside from my private clients, I have supported adult clients in the workplace facing different professional and personal challenges through a local employee assistance programme, worked as an Associate Counsellor for a national charity which provides free counselling services and support for the prevention and treatment of problem gambling, and worked in a GP practice offering counselling services to referred patients. I have also worked with a cancer support charity, offering counselling to people affected by a cancer diagnosis - patients, family members, carers and the bereaved. I am also employed as a part-time counsellor at a local Sixth Form College and have been working with 16-18 year old young people since 2017. For the past two years I have also been Mental Health Lead at the College.
